MEDİNE İRAK

Medine İrak (b.1983) completed her Bachelor's, Master's and Proficiency in Art education at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University between 2001-2015. She works on cultural heritage, change, ecology, migration, climate change, individual-space and human-nature relationship. Each of the studies focuses on the ecosystem formed by the articulation of stones, plants, other organisms and structures built by human labor and investigates the relationship of historical structures with their environment. The intertwined diverse but interconnected processes of historical structures represent the 'continuities and 'changes' of the ecosystems to which they belong.

In 2020, İrak took part in the Gate27 residency program in Ayvalık and joined the 2022 spring semester Daire Sanat Open Workshop Program. The artist, who participated in many group exhibitions held her solo exhibition titled 'Construction Rind' at Simbart Projects in 2022. Irak continues her postdoctoral studies at Brigham Young University, Utah, USA, in 2023, with the Tübitak Research Scholarship. The artist continues lives and work in Utah, USA.
