Melis Erdem has graduated from Işık University Interior Architecture in Istanbul and she then completed her master's degree from Pompeu Fabra University, Elisava, in Barcelona. After two years of collaborations, she returned to Istanbul in 2017 to develop her projects in the field of art and design. Contrary to the disciplined technical attitude brought by architectural education; in her painting and sculpture works, she works with various materials to interpret the imperfections of life by highlighting them. 

In her paintings and sculptures, she focuses on finding the balance in chaos and accepting the natural cycle of processes such as deterioration and decay. Her productions - which are supported by using unwanted and abandoned materials - aim to give shape to new compositions and separate these objects from their areas of use in daily life to gain a different form.
