Ezgi Yakın (b. 1988) received her bachelor's degree in 2010 and her master's degree in 2015 at Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty of Fine Arts Painting Department. She continues her Proficiency in Art education in the same department and works as a lecturer. Ezgi Yakin's works are based on references made up of fragments, traces and remains of architectural structures and everyday objects associated with the environment and urban experience. In her practices in the field of painting, photography and installation, she is interested in the visual and intellectual possibilities of what is no longer in harmony with the structural order of everyday life or what is left. Designed with an intellectual and political perspective, she transforms the visual aesthetics that emerge with the effects of time in the construction of place and space with an alternative view that supports the imagination.
Her solo exhibitions are "Stranger Time" (Simbart Projects, Istanbul, 2019), "Juncture" (Tabacka Kulturfabrik, Kosice, 2019) and "Other Things Expected and Left Behind" (Simbart Projects, Istanbul 2023). Yakin's articles are included in various periodical art publications. In 2019, she participated in the Kair Artist Residency program in Slovakia. The artist is represented by Simbart Projects and continues to live in Izmir, Turkey.
